Meet the Teacher
Hi! My name is Mrs. Dermatis and I am SO excited to be part of the First Grade Team! More importantly, I am THRILLED to be your teacher! It’s going to be a fun year full of learning and new adventures and I can’t wait to see what the year has in store for us. I want to know ALL about you, but first I’m going to tell you a few things about me.
I was born and raised in Bel Air, Maryland and I am the youngest in my family. I have an older brother Calvin, and I LOVE him a lot! When I graduated from high school, my family and I moved to Pennsylvania where I attended Millersville University. I majored in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education and couldn’t wait to graduate and start teaching. I then graduated from Wilkes University and received my Master’s Degree in Educational Strategies.
This is my seventh year teaching at Pleasant View! I taught Kindergarten my first year and then switched to First Grade. I absolutely love teaching First Grade because we get to learn a bunch of neat stuff!
I am married to a wonderful man, David, who is an Estimator. He also races BMX and you will hear me talk about all of his crazy races! I am also a mommy! I have a 17-month old son, David Parker. Being a mommy is such an amazing feeling! Baby David loves dancing, running, playing outside and being a true daredevil! We also have a golden retriever/chocolate lab, Russell, which we just adore. He is our first baby boy and we love him so much! I will share tons of pictures of my family with you!
I am so excited to be your teacher and can’t wait to spend a whole year watching you learn and grow!
